3 Signs Your Transmission Needs Servicing

Your transmission is a major component of your vehicle. Your vehicle needs it to run and drive properly. When something goes wrong, it can be quite disheartening. Trying to figure out what might be going on with your vehicle isn't always easy, especially for someone who isn't a professional. One noise could mean a whole host of different things where your vehicle is concerned. 1. Burnt Smell
Any time you smell your car burning, you need to get it looked at. When the transmission fluid starts overheating, it causes it to burn. Without transmission fluid in your vehicle, the parts won't have the lubrication they need to move and stay cool. Overheating causes friction and corrosion, as well as debris and sludge buildup. 2. Loud Noise in Neutral
Transmissions that are loud in neutral might just need some fluid or it might be that the old fluid needs changing. If that doesn't solve the problem, you might need to have some of the older parts replaced. Common parts that go out in the transmission are the gear teeth, bearings and reverse idler gear.
3. Slipping Gears
Transmissions are supposed to stay in gear until you shift them to another gear. When your transmission starts slipping into other gears without your doing anything, you are putting yourself at risk. You could be driving down the road when your vehicle slips into reverse and you are thrown all over the road. At the first sign of something not being right with your vehicle, you need to take it into the mechanic and have it looked at right away.
Don't just sit around hoping your vehicle is going to get better on its own. The first time something seems amiss, you need to make an appointment with the transmission repair specialist to have it looked at right away to determine what might be going on with it.
